A DANISH campaign has been launched to buy California and take over Disneyland after President Donald Trump began pressuring Denmark to sell Greenland to the US.
Under the newly proposed “Denmarkification” plan, Disneyland would get a new name.

Campaigners are asking for $1 trillion to buy the West Coast state and turn it into a territory that spreads Danish values.
The pitch is a bitter response to President Trump’s plan to purchase Greenland, which Denmark currently owns.
Trump wishes to take control of the land and its 56,000 inhabitants to expand the US footprint and further international security efforts, according to his administration.
He’s been eyeing the country since 2019 because of its strategic Arctic location, which offers the shortest route from North America to Europe.
Plus, the president fears it could fall into the hands of Russia and China if the US doesn’t take control.
However, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen isn’t impressed by the request, telling Trump behind closed doors that the autonomous territory isn’t for sale.
The international spat has sparked tension among Danes, including one Dane, Xavier Dutoit, who founded the California campaign.
His movement already has nearly 200,000 supporters and a full website explaining Dutoit’s exact demands.
According to the site, the organizer believes that Denmark should own California because “Why not?”
“Have you ever looked at a map and thought, ‘You know what Denmark needs? More sunshine, palm trees, and roller skates,'” the website reads.
“Well, we have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make that dream a reality.”
Dutoit explained how purchasing California would give Danish people access to endless sunshine and “tech dominance” thanks to Silicon Valley.
He also believes the state would be a prime opportunity to share Danish culture with the US as he wants to rename Disneyland to Hans Christian Andersenland.
“Mickey Mouse in a Viking helmet? Yes, please,” says the site.
For a small price of $1 trillion, Dutoit believes his country can bring Danish values to one of America’s most influential states.
“We’ll bring hygge to Hollywood, bike lanes to Beverly Hills, and organic smørrebrød to every street corner,” the description said.
“Rule of law, universal health care, and fact-based politics might apply.”
But at the bottom of the website, he admitted the movement was a joke, writing, “Disclaimer: This campaign is 100% real… in our dreams.”
Trump has also enraged Canada’s Prime Justin Trudeau over a rumored plan.
Plus, the president made a huge splash when he showed up for the Super Bowl.
